Hwange is world-famous for its 14 000 square kilometres of unspoilt landscape, where over 100 different species of animal
and 400 different types of birds reside. This National Park, which is one of the finest, is also one of the last remaining
elephant sanctuaries on the African continent. Herds of up to a 100 strong can be seen making their way to the watering
holes at sunset, particularly the Presidential Herd of Elephants, which are resident in the area (they have a special
protection decree issued by the government).
Hwange boasts a 500km network of game-viewing roads which are criss-crossed by herds of elephant and buffalo, rhino,
giraffe, zebra and a variety of predators, including lion and leopard. Viewing platforms beside a number of watering holes
and at a number of the many lodges in the Park provide guests with an unforgettable sight of nature in the wild.
The Park offers a choice of lodges with accommodation catering for every traveller, from luxury to budget, catering to
guests who want to get away from it all. Lodges offer game viewing in open 4-wheel drive safari vehicles conducted by
qualified and licensed guides.
